NFL Mock Drafts

4/14 NFL Mock Draft 3.2

This is my second to last mock draft of the 2013 draft season.  Sometime in the next 4-6 days I hope to have my "Jack Draft" up, where I'll detail what would happen if I were the GM of all 32 NFL teams (prepare for a very different mock).  Then I'll have my final stab at a mock draft posted on April 25th, the day of the first round.  Without further ado:

1. Kansas City Chiefs- Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M- This draft doesn’t have a stand-out top prospect, so the Chiefs are a little more unpredictable than most teams with the #1 pick.  The team franchised Brandon Albert, but that doesn’t take a Tackle out of play (after all, it’s only a one year deal).  Right now it looks like it's down to either Joeckel or Eric Fisher of Central Michigan.  Shariff Floyd is also a possibility if the Chiefs go defense, although there's nothing to indicate this pick won't be a Left Tackle.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars- Shariff Floyd, DT, Florida- The 20-year-old Floyd is somewhere in the Top 3 in just about every mock draft out there right now.  He's a dynamic interior rusher and has a very high ceiling.  I thought about penciling in Dee Milliner here, but I think Gus Bradley will feel he can develop bigger, raw corners in later rounds like he did in Seattle.  The Jags need a lot of pass rushing help and I think Floyd (right) is rated higher than any of the DE/OLB types on their board.  Defensive Tackle is also a bigger need, despite what experts will tell you about Dion Jordan and the Leo position in Gus Bradley's defense.  Jason Babin, Jeremy Mincey, and 2012 second round pick Andre Branch represent a decent group of ends.

3. Oakland Raiders- Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah- The Raiders have the worst roster in the NFL, and their defensive line is in shambles.  Dee Milliner or Dion Jordan could get looks here, but I think DT is a more pressing need, and Lotulelei (below) is the top player available at this point.  I even prefer him to Shariff Floyd.  His heart issues are all cleared up at this point.

4. Philadelphia Eagles- Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma- I remember back in 2010 I had Russell Okung as the top Left Tackle prospect, as many other people did.  But at #4 the Redskins picked Trent Williams over Okung because the former had quicker feet and was a perfect fit in their zone blocking scheme.  History could repeat itself in 2013 with another Sooner.  Lane Johnson isn’t rated higher than Eric Fisher on most boards (he is on mine) but he is the fastest tackle in years and seems perfect for chip Kelly’s offense.

5. Detroit Lions- Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama- The Lions will look at a Left Tackle here for sure, but Milliner would also fill a huge need and the Lions have been smitten with him throughout the draft process.  I think they take Milliner and hope Riley Reiff cuts it at left tackle.  They won't give up on him after one season, will they?

6. TRADE! Miami Dolphins- Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan- The Dolphins spent crazy money in Free Agency but still need to replace Jake Long at Left Tackle.  With two second round picks, they have the "ammunition", as GM Jeff Ireland called it, to move up if the right guy falls.  The Browns are without a second rounder after using theirs in the supplemental draft on WR Josh Gordon, and would happily move down to recoup one.  A win-win.

7. Arizona CardinalsDion Jordan, OLB, Oregon- The Cardinals don't get their Left Tackle to fall to them, but they do have Jordan, the consensus top 3-4 OLB in this class.  The high-upside linebacker would add some much needed pass rush to a defense that already has a cornerstone on the line (DE Calais Campbell) and in the secondary (CB Patrick Peterson).

8. Buffalo Bills- Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama- The Bills need to address the QB position at some point, but the Kevin Kolb signing indicates that might not be at #8.  They lost Andy Levitre in Free Agency and need to replace the star Guard.  New coach Doug Marrone was an offensive line coach with the Saints (Jahri Evans, Carl Nicks) before he took the Syracuse job.  He knows Warmack (right) is the best power-blocking guard to come around in a long time, and I can imagine he would love to build a power running scheme around Warmack and C.J. Spiller.  The Bills take the sure thing now and get their QB later.

9. New York Jets- Ezekiel Ansah, DE, BYU- The Jets need a pass rusher, and Ansah has value at the ninth spot.  He would likely stand up as an Outside Linebacker in their 3-4 scheme.  Rex Ryan probably knows the only way to save his job is to build a respectable team around a strong defense, not Mark Sanchez.

10. Tennessee Titans- Jon Cooper, OG/C, North Carolina- The Titans finalize their offensive line overhaul by adding Cooper, a great fit in their speed run offense.  A Guard tandem of Levitre and Cooper would do wonders for Chris Johnson.

11. San Diego Chargers- Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia- The Chargers seem infatuated with Lane Johnson, and would likely try to move up to 6 for him if he's available.  In this mock there's no Left Tackle left for them here, so they go an alternate route to help Phillip Rivers.  Austin is an electric playmaker who can be used in the slot or backfield, and new coach Mike McCoy could use him to get the ball out of Rivers' hands before the pass rush gets to him.  McCoy is an incredible offensive mind who designed the Tebow offense in Denver, so the mind can only imagine what he could do with a player like Austin.

12. TRADE! Dallas Cowboys- Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri- The Browns move down again, as Dallas continues their tradition of moving around the draft board to satisfy needs.  Sheldon Richardson is a favorite in Carolina, and the Cowboys could really use him in their new 4-3.  If Jerry Jones loves Richardson as much as some experts think, he won't hesitate to use a third round pick to trade up for him in the first round.

13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida St.- Rhodes appears to be the consensus second corner in the draft, and also seems like a great fit for the Cover 2 scheme the Bucs employ.  The Buccaneers have a dire need at the Cornerback position.

14. Carolina Panthers- Kenny Vaccaro, FS, Texas- Vaccaro is the top Safety in this draft and as a result is being a bit over-valued.  No team overvalues players like the Carolina Panthers, who gave obscene contracts to not one but 2 average Running Backs, as well as making Charles Johnson one of the highest paid defensive players in history.  Vaccaro would fill a void in the Panthers secondary, although they'd prefer it if Sheldon Richardson were here for the taking.

15. New Orleans Saints- Barkevious Mingo, OLB, LSU- The Saints need a pass rusher for their 3-4 defense, and Mingo (below) is a local product with upside.  I still don’t understand why everyone says he’s a top 15 pick, but I’m conforming reluctantly.

16. St. Louis Rams- D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama- The Rams need a Right Tackle opposite Jake Long, because Roger Saffold refuses to play there.  In this situation, the Rams can add the top RT prospect in this draft at a decent spot value wise, and then look to move Saffold for a pick in the second round (San Diego, perhaps).

17. Pittsburgh Steelers- Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia- Jones worked out poorly, as expected, and some analysts are suggesting he might fall out of the first round.  I think that’s heinous.  How can the most disruptive defensive player in college football from a year ago not go in the first round?!  The Steelers are smart, they’ll value Jones’ tape over his workout numbers, and they’ll get a solid pass rusher to replace James Harrison.

18. TRADE!  Cleveland Browns- Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia-   I know the Browns have said they’ll give Brandon Weeden another chance, but he’s 29 and not a starting caliber QB in the league.  What’s more, this new regime didn’t draft him, so they don’t owe him anything.  They got their pass rusher in Paul Kruger as a free agent, and at this point they will have recouped their lost second round pick as well as adding a third rounder from Dallas.  This area of the first round is where all the famous draftniks want Geno to go, and if the Bills pass on him at 8 he can certainly fall into the late teens.

19. New York Giants- Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida St.- The Giants need a pass rusher with Osi Umenyiora now in Atlanta.  Werner is a prototype Left End who would be a colossal steal at this juncture.  He is a terrific pass rusher and stops the run well.

20. Chicago Bears- Alec Ogletree, ILB, Georgia- Brian Urlacher is gone, and even if he comes back for the veteran minimum the Bears have to be thinking about a replacement.  Ogletree (below) is a blockhead that has made numerous poor personal decisions, but his talent is undeniable and he’s likely to be the first inside Linebacker off the board.

21. Cincinnati Bengals- Menelik Watson, OT, Florida St.- The Bengals are at a standstill with Free Agent Right Tackle Andre Smith, and they'll likely look for a cheap replacement through the draft.  Watson has risen up draft boards and could get reached for at this point because there is a steep drop off at the position after him.

Photo Rights to ESPN
22. St. Louis Rams (from WAS)- Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee- The Rams need to address the Wide Receiver position early in this draft, having lost Danny Amendola and Brandon Gibson from an already underwhelming group.  Patterson (right) is a raw receiver with route running and hands issues, but he's an absolute playmaker with the ball in his hands and has a big, NFL-ready body.  He's a raw version of Julio Jones.

23. Minnesota Vikings- Sylvester Williams, DT, UNC- Williams is rising up boards again and should go somewhere in the first round.  The Vikings need a Defensive Tackle to pair with and soon replace Kevin Williams, who is 33.

24. Indianapolis Colts- Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio St.- Hankins could play the Nose Tackle spot or the 5-technique in Chuck Pagano’s defense.  The Colts have a need on the defensive line at both spots.

25. Minnesota Vikings (from SEA)- Hunter is the type of deep threat the Vikings need to take the top off the defense and help Adrian Peterson. He is 6’4" tall with 4.4 speed and great leaping ability.  He'd also have a great mentor in place in Greg Jennings.

26. Green Bay Packers- Margus Hunt, DE, SMU- Hunt is a physical freak and a steal at this point in the first round.  He would play the 5-technique in Dom Campers’ 3-4, although I’d like to see him used outside as a pass rusher wherever he lands.

27. Houston Texans- Keenan Allen, WR, California- The Texans definitely need a #2 receiver after cutting Kevin Walter.  Allen represents a great value late in round 1, as he has drawn comparisons to Anquan Boldin, even down to their slow 40 times (4.7 range).

28. Denver Broncos- Tank Carradine, DE, Florida St.- The Broncos need to replace Elvis Dumervil, and they're rumored to love Carradine, who is rising up boards late in the draft season.  He had 11 sacks last season opposite Bjoern Werner in Tallahassee.

29. TRADE! Philadelphia Eagles- E.J. Manuel, QB, Florida St.- The Eagles trade up to make sure they get their mobile QB.  Manuel is a great fit in Philly as he can run Chip Kelly's high-octane offense and has a west coast background, making him a fit with OC Pat Shurmer.  The Eagles have been linked to Geno Smith but Manuel is a better fit and a better value.  The Patriots only have 4 or 5 picks (depending on the Emmanuel Sanders decision  and will look to add a mid-rounder while sliding back to the Eagles second round slot at 35.

30. Atlanta Falcons- Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi St.- Banks is a tall, lanky corner who has man-to man skills.  The Falcons secondary is weak with Dunta Robinson and Brent Grimes leaving only Asante Samuel as an established corner.

31. San Francisco 49ersMatt Elam, FS, Florida- The 49ers can replace the departed Dashon Goldson here with Elam, the second best Safety in this draft.  A solid hitter with good range, Elam figures to be a solid Safety and his experience in the SEC should make him an instant contributor.

32. TRADE! Buffalo Bills- Ryan Nassib, QB, Syracuse- The bills need to get their QB of the future, and Nassib is a great match with his college coach being in Buffalo.  While Matt Barkley is a better QB prospect than Nassib and many people regard him as more likely to go in Round 1 than Manuel or Nassib, he doesn't match up perfectly with anyone and as a result I don't think anyone trades back up to make sure they get him.  The Jaguars have the top pick in the second round and have been linked to Nassib (below), so Buffalo happily parts with a mid-rounder or two to move up from 41, as Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome is always open to moving down for more picks.

4/3 2013 NFL Mock Draft 3.1

A trade is also a possibility of a team decides to move up to make sure they get Geno Smith (and yes, Buffalo, you’re going to have to move up to get him).  Shariff Floyd is also a possibility if the chiefs go defense.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars- Shariff Floyd, DT, Florida- Floyd continues his ascension of draft boards league-wide after a solid combine.

3. Oakland Raiders- Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah- The Raiders have the worst roster in the NFL, and their defensive line is in shambles.  Dee Milliner or Dion Jordan could get looks here, but I think DT is a more pressing need, and Lotulelei is the top player available at this point.  His heart issues are all cleared up.

6. Cleveland Browns- Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia- It seems like every team in the Top 9 has been linked to Geno Smith at some point but Detroit, but Cleveland isn’t considered one of the favorites for the draft’s top signal caller.  I know they’ve said they’ll give Brandon Weeden another chance, but he’s 29 and not a starting caliber QB in the league.  What’s more, this new regime didn’t draft him, so they don’t owe him anything.  They got their pass rusher in Paul Kruger as a free agent, and I think if Smith is on the board they have to pull the trigger.

7. Arizona Cardinals- Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan- The Cardinals are delighted to have Fisher available at 7 to help shore up their left tackle spot.  He has tremendous value outside of the Top 5.

8. Buffalo Bills- Dion Jordan, OLB, Oregon- The Bills have needs at several place, notably at Quarterback, but Geno Smith isn’t available here in this mock.  They could reach for Alec Ogltree or Cordarrelle Patterson, or they could take Jordan (below) as a potential Von Miller type for their defense.  Jordan could play OLB in their 4-3 and then be unleashed as a pass rusher on third downs.  A value pick over picking straight for need.

9. New York Jets- Ezekiel Ansah, DE, BYU- the Jets need a pass rusher, and Ansah has value at the ninth spot.  He would likely stand up as an outside linebacker in their 3-4 scheme.

10. Tennessee Titans- Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama- The Titans finalize their offensive line overhaul by adding Warmack, the top interior line prospect in the draft.

11. San Diego Chargers- Jonathan Cooper, OG, UNC- The Chargers need to replace the departed Louis Vasquez at guard.  Cooper is among the best players available at this juncture and would help to stabilize the pocket for Phillip Rivers, as well as being versatile and a stout run blocker.

12. Miami Dolphins- Kenny Vaccaro, FS, Texas- The Dolphins have a pair of second rounders and the Browns have none, so I think we may see Miami move up to 6 if one of the 3 left tackles is there.  But this mock assumes no trades.  Vaccaro would be a reach here but as the top safety he’ll be pushed up the board a bit by teams that need him.  Miami has addressed a lot of other needs but safety remains a priority.

Photo Rights to ESPN
13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida St.- Rhodes and Desmond Trufant are battling to be the second corner off the board, but Rhodes seems like a better fit for the Cover 2 scheme the Bucs employ.  The Buccaneers have a dire need at the cornerback position.

14. Carolina Panthers- Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington- The Panthers need to bolster their pass defense, and their need at corner is heightened by Chris Gamble’s retirement.  Trufant (right) can run with speed receivers and has some ability to play zone too.

15. New Orleans Saints- Barkevious Mingo, OLB, LSU- The Saints need a pass rusher for their 3-4 defense, and Mingo is a local product with upside.  I still don’t understand why everyone says he’s a top 15 pick, but I’m conforming reluctantly.

16. St. Louis Rams- Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia- The Rams need receivers for Sam Bradford, and Danny Amendola’s departure leaves a hole in the slot.  Austin has shot up draft boards and is likely going to be a mid-first round pick.

18. Dallas Cowboys- Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri- The Cowboys are transitioning to a 4-3 and need a defensive tackle to pair with Jay Ratliff.  Richardson is a pass rushing specialist who would alleviate the pressure on Ware and Spencer.

Photo Rights to ESPN

21. Cincinnati Bengals- D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama- Andre Smith still isn’t back, which means he isn’t a priority for the Bengals.  Perhaps they’ll replace him with the guy who replaced him at Alabama.  Fluker is a mauler of a run blocker who should be a stud RT in the NFL.

22. St. Louis Rams (from WAS)- Matt Elam, FS, Florida- This is a reach, but the Rams need 2 safeties right now, and with an extra pick in the first round they can afford to reach a bit for need.  Elam figures to be a solid safety and his experience in the SEC should make him an instant contributor.

23. Minnesota Vikings- Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee- The Vikings signed Greg Jennings but still need a speedy deep threat to help alleviate some pressure off of Adrian Peterson.  Patterson has a ton of raw ability but is very raw and will take time to develop.  With a mentor in place in Jennings, it’s a great fit.

24. Indianapolis Colts- Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio St.- Hankins could play the nose tackle spot or the 5-technique in Chuck Pagano’s defense.  The Colts have a need on the defensive line at both spots.

25. Minnesota Vikings (from SEA)- Sylvester Williams, DT, UNC- Williams is rising up boards again and should go somewhere in the first round.  The Vikings need a defensive tackle to pair with and soon replace Kevin Williams, who is 33.

Allen (below) represents a great value late in round 1, as he has drawn comparisons to Anquan Boldin.
Photo Rights to ESPN

28. Denver Broncos- Damontre Moore, DE, Texas A&M- The Broncos need to replace Elvis Dumervil, and Moore slides all the way to them at 28.  Bad workouts this offseason have killed Moore’s draft stock, but he was incredibly productive at Texas A&M and still belongs in the first round.

29. New England Patriots- Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee- Hunter is the type of deep threat the Patriots have lacked since the days of Randy Moss.  He is 6’4 with 4.4 speed and great leaping ability.  He’d fit it great with the tight ends and Amendola.

30. Atlanta Falcons- Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi St.- Banks is a tall, lanky corner who has man-to man skills.  The Falcons secondary is weak with Dunta Robinson and Brent Grimes leaving only Asante Samuel as an established corner.

31. San Francisco 49ers- John Jenkins, DT, Georgia- the 49ers could use a nose tackle to replace Isaac Sopoaga, who landed in Philly.  Jenkins is a mammoth in the middle and has the swagger Jim Harbaugh likes.

32. Baltimore Ravens- Manti Te’o, IB, Notre Dame- Mel Kiper recently said Manti Te’o won’t make it to the Ravens at 32, but I have him here for the taking.  The Ravens need to replace Ray Lewis and Dannell Ellerbe.

3/2- Jack's 2013 NFL Mock Draft 3.0
First post-combine mock.  2 Full Rounds.

1. Kansas City Chiefs- Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M- This draft doesn’t have a stand-out top prospect, so the Chiefs are a little more unpredictable than most teams with the #1 pick.  With Brandon Albert set to test free agency, the team may have a huge hole at Left Tackle, which is where Joekel would fit in on Alex Smith’s blindside.  Even if Albert returns, a tackle could be in play, as could Shariff Floyd.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars- Shariff Floyd, DT, Florida- Floyd continues his ascension of draft boards league-wide after a solid combine.  I thought about penciling in Dee Milliner here, but I think Gus Bradley will feel he can develop bigger, raw corners in later rounds like he did in Seattle.  The Jags need a lot of pass rushing help and I think Floyd is rated higher than any of the DE/OLB types on their board.

Photo Rights to Detroit News
3. Oakland Raiders- Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan- The feeling around the league is this pick will either be Geno Smith or a Left Tackle. To me, the Raiders are a team with a serious talent deficiency that would be best served trying to trade way down and recoup the second round pick they lost (Carson Palmer trade) and pick the best defensive player available.  I also don’t get the QB idea when Carson Palmer is a mediocre to below average QB, but still far from the biggest problem in Oak-town.  So I’m left with the Left Tackle, Eric Fisher (right).

4. Philadelphia Eagles- Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama- Dion Jordan was tempting here, especially since Chip Kelly recently gushed about his former linebacker.  But Dee Milliner is a better prospect and fits a huge need for the Eagles as a corner they can match up on Hakeem Nicks and Dez Bryant.

5. Detroit Lions- Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida St.- Werner is my top rated pass rusher in this draft class, and the Lions have a need at defensive end in the wake of the Kyle Vanden Bosch release and Cliff Avril’s free agency.

6. Cleveland Browns- Ezekiel Ansah, DE/OLB, BYU- The Browns new 3-4 defense (although they flip-flop every couple years it seems) is going to need a rush linebacker to pressure Flacco, Roethlisberger, and Dalton.  Ziggy Ansah has shot up the draft board after a great senior bowl and an impressive combine.

7. Arizona Cardinals- Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma- Just to note, this is not too high for Lane Johnson.  He had a better combine than Joeckel and Fisher and he has absolutely put himself in the same league as those guys, though still the consensus third tackle.  The Cardinals need a new Left Tackle to protect whoever is at QB for them next year.  I’ve seen Matt Barkley’s name pop up in this spot quite a bit, but that would seriously be a major reach.

8. Buffalo Bills- Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia- The Bills have made it no secret they are targeting a QB of the future in this draft- Ryan Fitzpatrick is not the answer.  Smith is the top guy in this draft and has a chance to be a franchise QB.

9. New York Jets- Dion Jordan, OLB, Oregon- Jordan may end up going higher than this spot, but I couldn’t work him into my Top 8.  The Jets would be happy to pick the high-upside rush linebacker at this juncture and improve their anemic pass rush.

10. Tennessee Titans- Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama- Sometimes a pick makes too much sense to actually happen.  That might turn out to be the case here, as it seems like Warmack and the Titans are widely assumed to be a match at this pick.  The Titans need to upgrade their interior O-Line and Warmack is the best Guard to come out in a long time.

11. San Diego Chargers- Jonathan Cooper, OG, UNC- Jonathan Cooper isn’t far behind Warmack on most boards, and is even ranked higher on a few, according to various reports.  Cooper (below) certainly helped himself with a dominant combine, adding weight to his agile frame and putting up 35 bench press reps of 225lbs.
Photo Rights to goheels.com

12. Miami Dolphins- Cordarelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee- Patterson is regarded by most as the top WR prospect in this draft due to his upside and physical gifts.  The Dolphins are looking for a young #1 receiver for Ryan Tannehill and seem to like Patterson.

13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah- I don’t really know where to slot Star Lotulelei.  Hopefully his heart issues are not going to hinder his football career.  The Bucs could use a bigger DT to pair with Gerald McCoy.

14. Carolina Panthers- Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington- The Panthers need to improve their defense if they are going to take the next step and contend in the NFC South.  Trufant ran a sub-4.4 forty and is in the discussion to be the second CB off the board.

Photo Rights to ESPN
15. New Orleans Saints- Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia- Jarvis Jones is an electric pass rusher, but his spinal issue and work ethic concerns have him falling.  The Saints are moving to a 3-4 and Jones is the quintessential 3-4 OLB.

16. St. Louis Rams- Kenny Vaccaro, FS, Texas- Vaccaro (left) didn’t help himself at the combine, but is still regarded as the only safety with a first round grade in this class.  The Rams have a pair of first rounders and can afford to reach for need here and draft for value later.

17. Pittsburgh Steelers- Damontre Moore, DE/OLB, Texas A&M- Damontre Moore had an abysmal combine, and shot out of the Top 5-10 discussion as the other pass rushers impressed.  The Steelers will love his value here and could use Moore to replace James Harrison, who will likely be released for age/cap reasons.

18. Dallas Cowboys- Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri- there is no way Sheldon Richardson should be on the board at 18, but I couldn’t find a place for him sooner.  The Cowboys would love to add Richardson as an interior pass rusher in their new 4-3 defense.

19. New York Giants- Margus Hunt, DE, SMU- Hunt was a beast at the combine and should rise way up boards across the league.  I think he’d fit great as a younger version of Justin Tuck in New York, where he could play LE in the 4-3 and slide inside to DT on 3rd down as a pass rusher.  Imagine a 4 man rush of JPP, Tuck, Hunt, and Matthias Kiwanuka on third and long.

20. Chicago Bears- D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama- The Bears need to keep Jay Cutler healthy and upright, and D.J. Fluker is a good fit here at 20.  Strictly a Right Tackle, Fluker is a dominant run blocker who has the physical gifts to develop as a pass protector.

21. Cincinnati Bengals- Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia- The Bengals need some spark in their offense, and Tavon Austin (right) is a spark plug.  He ran a 4.34 forty at the combine and is the top slot receiver to declare for the draft since Percy Harvin.  He’d fit great in a young nucleus with Dalton, Green, Gresham, and Sanu.

22. St. Louis Rams (via WAS)- Keenan Allen, WR, California- The Rams need at WR isn’t as dire if they can bring back Danny Amendola, but either way they should address the position at some point in the draft.  Keenan Allen is an Anquan Boldin type of physical player, and could finally give Sam Bradford a dependable pass catcher on the outside.

23. Minnesota Vikings- Sylvester Williams, DT, UNC- Sylvester Williams can be a NT in a 3-4 or a DT in a 4-3, but I think he fits better in a 4-3 because he is a better pass rusher than he is a run stopper.  Kevin Williams is a fossil and the Vikings need a new main man in the middle of their D-Line.

24. Indianapolis Colts- Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio St.- I’d like to see the Colts use this pick on some protection for Andrew Luck, but there aren’t any tackles worth slotting here.  Johnathan Hankins would give the Colts 3-4 a legitimate Nose Tackle and help improve their pass rush from the interior.

25. Seattle Seahawks- Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee- Justin Hunter is very quietly becoming a hot prospect in the draft.  There just aren’t a lot of 6’4” guys who can run a 4.4 forty.  His upside as a deep threat is immense, and Russell Wilson needs a receiver to take the top off a defense.

26. Green Bay Packers- Kawaan Short, DT, Purdue- The Packers run defense is pretty awful, as Adrian Peterson showed over and over again.  The Packers seemed to lose thier defensive identity when Cullen Jenkins left and they couldn’t fill the void at DE.  Short is a guy who has some pass rushing ability and can help in the ground game.  He’d move to end in a 3-4 after playing tackle in a 4-3 at Purdue.

27. Houston Texans- Alec Ogletree, ILB, Georgia- Alec Ogletree seems to still be the top rated ILB in this class despite his DUI arrest.  The Texans have major questions at the position with Brian Cushing’s ACL tear and Bradie James being a free agent.

28. Denver Broncos- Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida St.- the Broncos corners got torched by Baltimore’s speed receivers in their playoff loss.  Xavier Rhodes (below) has all the physical tools to be a lockdown man corner.

Photo Rights to CBS Sports

29. New England Patriots- Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi St.- Banks didn’t have a good combine and is probably going to pay for it (literally).  But the Patriots would be happy to scoop up a big, physical corner and have him play an Aqib Talib type role without the baggage that Talib brings with him.  I still believe Banks is a stud.

30. Atlanta Falcons- Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame- Tony Gonzalez is probably going to retire.  I know he keeps wavering, but I don’t think he wants to put himself through a full season again.  Maybe if the Falcons are good he’ll come back for the stretch run, but they can easily replace him with Eifert, the consensus top tight end in the draft.

31. San Francisco 49ers- Barkevious Mingo, OLB, LSU- I still don’t see all the hype of Kiki Mingo.  Sure, he’s a good pass rusher with a lot of upside, but he’s not big enough to hold up against the run unless he’s playing OLB in a 4-3, where his pass rushing will be minimized.  He needs to go to a team that can baby him for a year or two and just play him on 3rd and long, like Bruce Irvin with the Seahawks last year.  He’d be a fit in San Fran.

32. Baltimore Ravens- Manti Te’o, ILB, Notre Dame- Adam Schefter (aka God) maintains that Te’o isn’t falling out of the first round.  That’s the only reason I have Te’o here, as I personally can’t see a team taking on the media circus of Te’o as a #1 pick.  He’s the new Tebow, even down to the sexual orientation rumblings from people who somehow thing that detracts from his game.

Round 2

33. Jacksonville Jaguars- Alex Okafor, DE, Texas- The Jaguars continue to re-mold their front 4 with Gus Bradley, and draft Okafor to give them an edge rusher to pair with Jason Babin.

34. San Francisco 49ers (via KC)- Matt Elam, SS, Florida- The Niners replace Dashon Goldson with a thumper from the swamp.

35. Philadelphia Eagles-- Kyle Long, OT, Oregon- Who better to run the Eagles new offensive line scheme than Long, the versatile thoroughbred (Brother Chris and Papa Howie) who played for Chip Kelly in college?

36. Detroit Lions- Jordan Poyer, CB, Oregon St.- Alas, the Lions spend a value pick on a Cornerback.

37. Cincinnati Bengals (via Oak)- Kevin Minter, ILB, LSU- Rey Mualuga is gone, but Minter is not just a replacement, he’s an upgrade.

38. Arizona Cardinals- Matt Barkley, QB, USC- The Cardinals are reportedly smitten with Matt Barkley.  E.J. Manuel is a better fit for Bruce Arians' offense, but I digress.

39. New York Jets Eddie Lacy, RB, Alabama- Lacy becomes the Jets new workhorse back.

40. Tennessee Titans- Barrett Jones, C, Alabama- Jones and Warmack, basically a wet dream for Titans fans.

41. Buffalo Bills- DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Clemson- The Bills have expressed interest in getting a possession receiver with size.  Hopkins has drawn Roddy White comparisons.

42. Miami Dolphins- Logan Ryan, CB, Rutgers- A big, physical cover man to replace Sean Smith.

43. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- David Amerson, CB, NC St.- the Bucs have had a need at corner for forever.  Amerson is big and fast and could be polished by Ronde Barber’s tutelage.

44. Carolina Panthers- Terrance Williams, WR, Baylor- A vertical weapon to complement Steve Smith.  Cam Newton needs one.

45. San Diego Chargers- John Jenkins, NT, Georgia- Finally, a replacement for Jamaal Williams.  The Bolts’ 3-4 hasn’t been the same since he left.

46. St. Louis Rams- Khaseem Greene, OLB, Rutgers- The top 4-3 OLB in the draft, he’d be another piece on a promising Rams unit.

47. Dallas Cowboys- Datone Jones, DE, UCLA- A replacement for Anthony Spencer.

48. Pittsburgh Steelers- Larry Warford, OG, Kentucky- He belongs higher than this, but others don’t like him like I do. The Steelers are smart.

49. New York Giants- Arthur Brown, OLB, Kansas St.- The Giants’ Linebackers are uninspiring.  Brown is a great coverage linebacker who packs a little punch too.

50. Chicago Bears- Terron Armstead, OT, Ark. Pine-Bluff- The workout warrior could be groomed into a competent Left Tackle for Jay Cutler.  Getting Fluker and Armstead would be a great haul for Chi-town.

51. Washington Redskins- Zach Ertz, TE, Stanford- Fred Davis has fragile legs and might not be back.  A complete tight end to help RG3 and Alfred Morris.

52. Minnesota Vikings- Quinton Patton, WR, Louisiana Tech.- A big target with swagger for Christian Ponder.

53. Cincinnati Bengals- Corey Lemonier, DE/OLB, Auburn- Had a great combine, but with so many quality pass rushers this is the earliest I could find a spot for him.  Michael Johnson is on the franchise tag and Lemonier could be a cheap replacement in 2014.

54. Miami Dolphins (via IND)- Dallas Thomas, OT/OG, Tennessee- A right tackle (move Jonathan Martin to left) to indirectly replace Jake Long.

55. Green Bay Packers- Giovani Bernard, RB, UNC- A talented scatback that could do scary things for Aaron Rodgers.

56. Seattle Seahawks- Bennie Logan, DT, LSU- Can’t believe he’s on the board, but not working out at the combine will do that.  He’s too good to last this long.

57. Houston Texans- E.J. Manuel, QB, Florida St.- Gary Kubiack recently said the Texans might draft a young QB to develop into a franchise QB.  Simpy put, I think E.J. could very well Kaepernick the Smith out of Schaub (see what I did there?).

58. Denver Broncos- Da’Rick Rodgers, WR, Tennessee Tech- Rodgers has a ton of physical ability, but some red flags.  Peyton Manning has a way of getting dudes to be smart and play hard.

59. New England Patriots- Jonathan Cyprien, SS, Florida International- Steve Gregory isn’t good enough to start on a team that is trying to be a contender.

60. Atlanta Falcons- Sam Montgomery, DE, LSU- John Abraham was released and the Falcons needed a pass rusher before that.

61. San Francisco 49ers- Robert Woods, WR, USC- Harbaugh takes a chance on Woods, once considered the best WR in this draft.  Worth a shot.

62. Baltimore Ravens- Eric Reid, FS, LSU- Reid had a solid combine and could be brought in whether or not Ed Reed comes back.

12/20- Jack's 2013 NFL Draft 1.2
Second Round Added.

1. Kansas City Chiefs- Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia- Wow.  After the Jovan Belcher tragedy, could the situation get worse in K.C.?  The Chiefs are completely starting over and almost have to take a QB.  Cassell will be cut, Pioli and Crennell will be fired, and the new Chiefs regime will need to bring in a new face of the franchise.  Smith is marginally ahead of Barkley right now to be the top QB off the board, and while he isn’t anywhere near the best prospect in this class, it’s a QB league and Smith is the best available.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars- Jarvis Jones, DE/OLB, Georgia- The Jags are a terrible pass rushing team, tied for last in the league in sacks.  Jason Babin will probably opt out of his contract (a stipulation for any waived/claimed player) because the team is so awful.  Jones makes the most sense here, as he’s the top player on the board.

3. Philadelphia Eagles- Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M- The Eagles have holes everywhere in their dream team roster.  Joeckel is a consensus top 5 pick because he is an elite left tackle prospect.  Jason Peters’ is injury prone, and Demetrius Bell flopped replacing him.

4. Detroit Lions- Damontre Moore, DE, Texas A&M- The Lions need a defensive end as Kyle Vanden Bosch could be cut due to his high cap number, and Cliff Avril hasn’t lived up to the franchise tag and is a free agent.  Moore is the second pass rusher on the board after Jarvis Jones.

5. Oakland Raiders- Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah- Lotulelei is a consensus top 5 pick and is a ferocious run stuffer who occasionally gets after the passer.  Reminds me of a young, motivated Albert Haynesworth.

6. Arizona Cardinals- Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan- The Cardinals are stuck having to reach here, as their biggest needs are left tackle and quarterback and no one on the board fits the slot.  Taylor Lewan is rising however and could be a top 10 pick when it’s all said and done.

7. Cleveland Browns- Manti Te’o, LB, Notre Dame- Te’o is the top player on the board and could play weakside linebacker next to D’Qwell Jackson in Cleveland’s 4-3, or play inside in a 3-4 if they go that way under a new coaching staff.

8. Tennessee Titans- Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama- The Titans pass defense has been poor this year, as Jason McCourty hasn’t performed like a number one corner and the safeties have been atroscious.  Milliner is the best DB in this draft and can play man to man or zone coverage.

9. Buffalo Bills- Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida St.- Mark Anderson has done nothing opposite Mario Wiliams this season.  Bjoern Werner is a textbook 4-3 end that stops the run and gets after the quarterback.

10. Carolina Panthers- Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio St.- The Panthers have nothing at defensive tackle, where the run-stuffing Hankins would be a welcome addition.

11. San Diego Chargers- Johnathan Jenkins, NT, Georgia- The Chargers haven’t had a viable nose tackle since Jamaal Williams left a few years ago, and Johnathan Jenkins can be that player.  The 363 pounder was a force for Georgia this season.

12. New York Jets- Barkevious Mingo, DE, LSU- The Jets are likely going to pursue a veteran QB in the offseason having failed with the draft and develop approach.  Mingo is a good fit for their defense as a rush linebacker.

13. Miami Dolphins- Terrance Williams, WR, Baylor- The Dolphins reach here, as their top needs are WR and OT.  I like Williams’ production this season at Baylor without RG3, Josh Gordon, and Kendall Wright around him, and with a good combine I see him as the top wideout on the board.

14. New Orleans Saints- Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri- Richardson is a terrific interior pass rusher that the Saints could sorely use in the middle of their defensive front.

15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Johnthn Banks, CB, Mississippi St.- The Bucs traded Aqib Talib and have serious secondary issues to work out.  Banks is the second corner likely to be chosen right now.

16. St. Louis Rams- Chance Warmack, G, Alabama- Warmack is a phenomenal guard prospect who would provide the Rams with a nice upgrade.  Guards rarely go in the top half of the first round, but Warmack could be the exception.

17. Pittsburgh Steelers- Dion Jordan, DE/OLB, Oregon- James Harrison may be cut as he can’t stay healthy and his production has slipped.  Jordan is a freak pass rusher who could replace him in Pittsburgh’s 3-4 defense.

18. Minnesota Vikings- Sylvester Williams, DT, North Carolina- The Vikings need a run stuffing defensive tackle in order to take the next step as a defense, and the 320 pound Tarheel fits the bill.

19. Dallas Cowboys- Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M- The Cowboys need a new right tackle because Doug Free has been a sieve and a penalty machine this season.  Jake Matthews has left tackle potential but is on the right side because of Luke Joeckel.

20. New York Giants- Alec Ogletree, ILB, Georgia- The Giants linebacking corps has seen better days, and Ogletree’s stock is on the rise after a terrific season at Georgia.

21. Cincinnati Bengals- Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas- The Bengals’ safeties leave much to be desired, and Vaccaro is emerging as the consensus top safety in this draft.  He has the ability to play either safety spot.

22. St. Louis Rams (via Wash)- Cordarelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee- Cordarelle Patterson is flying up draft boards because of his upside.  He is expected to run in the 4.4 range or better and is a big target at 6-2.

23. Chicago Bears- Jonathan Cooper, G, North Carolina- Cooper is a first round guard and the Bears need help all over their offensive line.

24. Indianapolis Colts- Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan- Fisher is a first round pick right now because a lot of teams need offensive tackle help and he had a great season against pretty bad competition.  Andrew Luck is getting pounded by opponents- that needs to stop or the Colts are in trouble.

25. Seattle Seahawks- Keenan Allen, WR, California- The Seahawks need a true elite receiver for Russell Wilson, and Keenan Allen could be that guy.  Allen has produced well considering he has had awful quarterbacks throwing to him at Cal.

26. Baltimore Ravens- C.J. Mosely, ILB, Alabama- Ray Lewis may be done after this season.  Mosely could replace him in the middle of the Ravens’ 3-4.

27. Green Bay Packers- Tyler Eifert, TE/WR, Notre Dame- Jermichael Finley forgot how to catch the football, Donald Driver is going to retire, and Greg Jennings is coming up on free agency and is injured.  Aaron Rodgers is going to need a new toy to play with, and Eifert is a matchup nightmare because he can play WR or TE.

28. New England Patriots- Barrett Jones, C/G/T, Alabama- Jones is a smart and versatile lineman who comes from a member of the Belechickian coaching tree.  A match made in heaven if he’s on the board here.

29. San Fransisco 49ers- Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida St.- The Niners have some questions in their secondary and Rhodes is a big, physical corner who I could see Jim Harbaugh loving.  He also shut down Cardinals 2012 first round pick Michael Floyd last year.

30. Denver Broncos- Kawaan Short, DT, Purdue- The Broncos need defensive tackles more than anything, and Kawaan Short is a beast in the middle for Purdue.

31. Houston Texans- Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee- The Texans have needed a number 2 receiver since their inception and Hunter could be that player in addition to the heir to Andre Johnson.

32. Atlanta Falcons- Ezekial Ansah, DE, BYU- Ansah is a raw physical freak that could help the Falcons mediocre pass rush.

Round 2
33. Jacksonville Jaguars- Matt Barkley, QB, USC
34. Kansas City Chiefs- Robert Woods, WR, USC
35. Detroit Lions- Jordan Poyer, CB, Oregon St.
36. Cincinnati Bengals (via OAK)- Sam Montgomery, DE, LSU
37. Philadelphia Eagles- David Amerson, CB/FS, N.C. State
38. Cleveland Browns- (omitted for Josh Gordon supplemental selection)
39. Tennessee Titans- Tony Jefferson, S, Oklahoma
40. Buffalo Bills- Mike Glennon, QB, North Carolina St.
41. Carolina Panthers- Eric Reid, S, LSU
42. San Diego Chargers- Dallas Thomas, OT/G, Tennessee
43. Arizona Cardinals- Tyler Wilson, QB, Arkansas
44. Miami Dolphins- D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama
45. New Orleans Saints- Corey Lemonier, DE/OLB, Auburn
46. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Khaseem Greene, LB, Rutgers
47. New York Jets- Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia
48. St. Louis Rams- Zach Ertz, TE, Stanford
49. Pittsburgh Steelers- Matt Elam, S, Florida
50. Dallas Cowboys- Alex Okafor, DE/OLB, Texas
51. New York Giants- Shariff Floyd, DT, Florida
52. Minnesota Vikings- DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Clemson
53. Cincinnati Bengals- Giovani Bernard, RB, North Carolina
54. Washington Redskins- Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington
55. Chicago Bears- Stedman Bailey, WR, West Virginia
56. Miami Dolphins (via IND)- Nickell Robey, CB, USC
57. Seattle Seahwaks- Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma
58. Baltimore Ravens- Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma St.
59. Green Bay Packers- Cobi Hamilton, WR, Arkansas
60. New England Patriots- T.J. McDonald, S, USC
61. San Fransisco 49ers- Baccari Rambo, S, Georgia
62. Denver Broncos- Travis Frederick, G/C, Wisconsin
63. Houston Texans- Ricky Wagner, OT, Wisconsin
64. Atlanta Falcons- Jordan Reed, TE, Florida

11/15 Jack's Mock Draft 1.1

1. Jacksonville Jaguars- Jarvis Jones, DE/OLB, Georgia- Has either Matt Barkley or Geno Smith looked like a #1 overall pick this year?  I’m not sold on either, and the Jags are a terrible pass rushing team, last in the league in sacks.  Jones makes the most sense here, as he’s the top player on the board.

2. Kansas City Chiefs- Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia- The Chiefs on the other hand almost have to take a QB.  Cassell will be cut, Pioli and Crennell will be fired, and the new Chiefs regime will need to bring in a new face of the franchise.  Smith is marginally ahead of Barkley right now to be the top QB off the board.

3. Cleveland Browns- Damontre Moore, DE/OLB, Texas A&M- Moore has rocketed up boards and is in line to be a very high pick if he declares (he has said he would like to return to school but would “look into” the draft.  Odds are he won’t go back once he sees where he’s projected.  The Browns need a pass rusher to pair with Jabaal Sheard.

4. Carolina Panthers- Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah- Carolina lands the #2 player on my Big Board to plug up their anemic run defense.  Lotulelei commands double teams on every play and reminds me of young/motivated Albert Haynesworth.

5. Oakland Raiders- Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama- Milliner is a bona fide shutdown corner prospect who figures to be a Top 10 selection come April.  He’d be a welcome addition to a Raiders D that struggles in all aspects, and could use several upgrades.

6. New York Jets- Matt Barkley, QB, USC- The way I see it, if the Jets continue to lose at this pace and bench Mark Sanchez, they’ll be picking somewhere around here and need a QB.  If Barkley or Smith falls they almost have to scoop them up.  If they right the ship a bit and get to 6 or 7 wins, Sanchez will likely keep the job into next year and neither QB will drop far enough to reach them anyway.  It’d be funny to replace Sanchez with Barkley after Barkley replaced Sanchez at USC.

7. Buffalo Bills- Manti Te’o, ILB, Notre Dame- The Bills D has been awful despite investing high draft picks in the secondary and big free agent dollars in the line.  They could use a leader in the middle of that, and Te’o is one of the best leaders to come out in a while.  He is a 3 down linebacker capable of stuffing the run and covering in man or zone schemes.

8. St. Louis Rams (from Redskins)- Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M- Joeckel is rising up draft boards and is the top LT in this class by a long shot.  He dominated Sam Montgomery in the LSU game and then continued to dominate against Alabama.  The Rams need a blindside protector for Sam Bradford.

9. Philadelphia Eagles- Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State- Believe it or not, Nnamdi Asomugha may be released because he’s been mediocre in Philly, and DMR is a free agent after this season, so corner figures to be a need for the Eagles.  Rhodes is a big, physical corner who played very well last year against Michael Floyd to put his name on NFL watch lists.  He hasn’t been as great this year but is still a big part of FSU being a Top 10 team.

10. Arizona Cardinals- Barkevious Mingo, DE/OLB, LSU- The Cardinals need a QB, left tackle, and a pass rusher, usually a sign that a team is in serious rebuilding mode.  Mingo has been up and down this year but is a pure speed rusher who has the talent and swagger of a young Terrell Suggs.

11. San Diego Chargers- Jonathan Hankins, DT, Ohio St.- The Chargers haven’t had a viable nose tackle since Jamaal Williams left a few years ago, and luckily for them Hankins falls into their lap in this scenario.  Hankins is a monster who stuffs the run and commands double teams, and is more than likely a top 10 pick.

12. Tennessee Titans- Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida St.- The Titans are a tough team to evaluate because their roster is filled with mediocre players who don’t necessarily NEED to be upgraded, but the lack of star talent means upgrades are available in a variety of places.  Werner is a prototype 4-3 end that would help a pass rush that is average at best.  He’s also an advanced run stopper for a player of his age.

13. St. Louis Rams- Terrence Williams, WR, Baylor- Williams isn’t the top wideout on most boards, but he’s been the most productive draft-eligible receiver in college this year despite losing RG3, Kendall Wright, and Josh Gordon as running mates.  His resume right now lands him here, with the Rams hoping to finally get Sam Bradford a #1 receiver.

14. Miami Dolphins- Keenan Allen, WR, California- Ryan Tannehill also needs a #1 target, and the Dolphins have shown that they value talent over production (their last 3 first round picks have been a 3-4 end (Jared Odrick), a center (Mike Pouncey), and a quarterback with the third or fourth best stats in his own conference (Tannehill).

15. Lions- Dion Jordan, DE, Oregon- On the surface the defensive line isn’t a need for Detroit, but Cliff Avril will most  be gone next year, having not lived up to the franchise tag.  Jordan is the face of Oregon’s improved defense and is a relentless pass rusher.

16. Cowboys- Johnathan Jenkins, DT, Georgia- The Cowboys were divided on whether to pick J.J. Watt or Tyron Smith 2 years ago, and Smith has been good, but they need a 3-4 end like Watt to help alleviate the pass rush off of Demarcus Ware.  The 6-4, 363 pound Jenkins could play nose tackle and Jay Ratliff could move to end.  The Cowboys reportedly courted Dontari Poe last year for the same purpose until a trade for Morris Claiborne presented itself.

17. Cincinnati Bengals- Alec Olgletree, ILB, Georgia- The Bengals linebacking corps has seen better days, and Olgletree is having a monster year scooping up whatever gets through Georgia’s incredible front 4.  A bit high for him, but Cinci drafted Kevin Zeitler in the first round last year because they were desperate for guard help.

18. Saints- Sam Montgomery, DE, LSU- The Saints are in need of a pass rusher, as Will Smith is past his prime and due to get cut if he can’t regain his old form.  Montgomery is a local product from LSU, a speed rusher who has struggled this year against top tier tackles, causing his stock to drop.

19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi St.- The Bucs trade aqib Talib and have serious secondary issues to work out.  After a hot start Banks’ stock has cooled, but in a pass happy league being the third corner in the draft can only drop him so far.

20. Minnesota Vikings- Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee- The Vikings pick up a big deep threat to pair with Percy Harvin.  Hunter has been very productive this year coming of an ACL tear, and he’s a great fit in this offense.

21. Indiannapolis Colts- Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama- It’s amazing that Andrew Luck has been this good behind a terrible offensive line.  Warmack is an elite guard prospect who would be an instant stud.

22. New York Giants- , OG, North Carolina- The Giants could use some guard help and Cooper is a blue chipper.  In any draft without a Warmack or a David Decastro he’d be the top guard.

23. Pittsburgh Steelers- Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas- Vaccaro is a versatile, aggressive safety who would help Pittsburgh, with Polamalu perpetually injured and Ryan Clark always a risk with his health issues.

24. Seattle Seahawks- Tyler Eifert, TE/WR, Notre Dame- Zack Miller hasn’t lived up to his contract in Seattle, and Eifert is  a more dynamic and versatile weapon anyway.  Russell Wilson would finally have a top tier pass catcher.

25. New England Patriots- Sylvester Williams, DT, North Carolina- The Patriots have no interior pass rush, and Williams could eventually succeed now 31-year-old Vince Wilfork as the main man in the middle on D.

26. Denver Broncos- Kawaan Short, DT, Purdue- Short is a big, impactful end who would finally give the Broncos a prescense in the middle.  They’ve got nothing at DT right now.

27. San Fransisco 49ers- Robert Woods, WR, USC- The Niners grab the last of the first round receivers in the local product Woods.  Woods has been outshined by Marquis Lee (only a sophomore, not draft-eligible) but is still a receiver with good size and speed and a great pair of hands.

28. Green Bay Packers- Zach Ertz, TE, Stanford-  Jermichael Finley forgot how to catch the football, Donald Driver is going to retire, and Greg Jennings is coming up on free agency and is injured.  Aaron Rodgers is going to need a new toy to play with, and Ertz has the potential to be a complete tight end at the next level.

29. Baltimore Ravens- C.J. Mosely, ILB, Alabama- Ray Lewis isn’t unbreakable after all.  The Ravens need a new main man in the middle.  Mosely was the lone bright spot on D for Bama in the loss to Texas A&M.

30. Chicago Bears- Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan- Lewan is rising up boards but I’m hesitant to put him too high seeing as how the Big 10 does not produce quality edge rushers to test him.  I’m interested to see him as the draft process goes on.  The Bears O-line is streaky but Jay Cutler needs a left tackle that he won’t have to chest bump on national TV.

31. Atlanta Falcons- Ezekial Ansah, DE, BYU- Ansah is a nice 4-3 end who could bolster Atlanta’s pass rush.  Ray Edwards was recently cut, leaving a hole at end opposite John Abraham.

32. Houston Texans- Eric Reid, S, LSU- Reid is the leader of LSU’s vaunted secondary and one of the best playmakers in college football defensively.  The Texans have Glover Quinn hitting free agency and could use an upgrade anyway.

10/26 Jack's Mock Draft 1.0

1.       Kansas City Chiefs- Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia- Brady Quinn is not going to be the answer in KC, leaving whomever replaces Scott Pioli with the task of finding a franchise QB.  Smith gets the nod over Barkley because I think he will appeal more to a team in need of a face of the franchise, and his numbers stand to bounce back to astronomical levels for the remainder of the season.

2.       Jacksonville Jaguars- Matt Barkley, QB, USC- Jacksonville is left with whomever the Chiefs pass on, and in this case they get a more polished product in Barkley.  Barkley has 4 years of experience in a pro-style offense, but I also see more Jimmy Clausen in Barkley than I’d like to.

3.       Carolina Panthers- Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah- Carolina lands the top player on my Big Board to plug up their anemic run defense.  Lotulelei commands double teams on every play and reminds me of young/motivated Albert Haynesworth.

4.       Cleveland Browns- Jarvis Jones, DE/OLB, Georgia- Jones is my number two player on the Big Board, and he hass generated a Von Miller-esque buzz about his game this season.  The Browns could use him as an OLB in their 4-3 (or 3-4 if Pat Shurmur’s replacement uses one) and put his hand in the dirt on pass rushing downs.

5.       Oakland Raiders- Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama- Milliner is a bona fide shutdown corner prospect who figures to be a Top 10 selection come April.  He’d be a welcome addition to a Raiders D that struggles in all aspects, and could use several upgrades.

6.       Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida St.- The Bucs have serious holes in their secondary, even with Mark Barron holding down one of the safety spots.  Rhodes is a big, physical corner who played very well last year against Michael Floyd to put his name on NFL watch lists.

8.       Tennessee Titans- Jonathan Hankins, DT, Ohio St.- The Titans need to go best player available on D, and in this case it’s Hankins, the monstrous run stuffer who can also get to the passer here and there.  He would replace Sen’Derrick Marks and combine with Jurrell Casey to be one of the best young DT tandems in the league.

9.       Detroit Lions- Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida St.- On the surface the defensive line isn’t a need for Detroit, but Cliff Avril will most  be gone next year, having not lived up to the franchise tag.  Werner is a prototypical 4-3 end who stops the run and uses his strength and speed to get to the passer.

10.   New Orleans Saints- Barkevious Mingo, DE/OLB, LSU- The Saints are in need of a pass rusher, as Will Smith is past his prime and due to get cut if he can’t regain his old form.  Mingo is a local product from LSU, a straight speed rusher who has been dynamic for the Tigers this year.

11.   New York Jets- Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee- The Jets in this situation could reach for a QB or target some weapons and give Sanchez/Tebow another year.  Justin Hunter is a big time target out of Tennessee that when healthy has shown all signs of being a future #1 receiver at the next level.

12.   Cincinnati Bengals- Jonathan Banks, CB, Mississippi St.- The Bengals drafted Leon Hall and Jonathan Joseph in back to back first rounds and developed them into an elite corner tandem.  Hall will still be here, but they could draft Banks and play Dre Kirkpatrick at FS and nickel corner, where his skills could be used just as well.

13.   St. Louis Rams- Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M- Joeckel is rising up draft boards and is the top LT in this class by a long shot.  He dominated Sam Montgomery in the LSU game.

14.   Indianapolis Colts- Jonathan Jenkins, DT, Georgia- The 6-4, 363 pound monster of a DT could be the nose tackle of the future in Chick Pagano’s (Get well soon Chuck!) 3-4 defense.  If Georgia upsets Florida this Saturday Jenkins will play a big role in stopping the run.

15.   Rams (from Redskins)- Robert Woods, WR, USC- Jeff Fisher is a USC guy and Sam Bradford needs a #1 receiver.  Woods does everything well if nothing spectacular and projects to me as a possible Greg Jennings type receiver.

16.   San Diego Chargers- Keenan Allen, WR, California- The run on receivers continues as the Chargers replace Vincent Jackson with someone who isn’t Robert Meachem.  Allen has the size the Bolts like at 6-2, 215, and is also a gamebreaker.  With a better college QB and/or more national exposure he might be a Top 10 prospect.

17.   Philadelphia Eagles- David Amerson, CB, North Carolina St.- Amerson hasn’t been as great as expected this year, but he’s still a big, fast corner who with a little consistency will be a star.  DRC is a free agent and Asomugha may be cut.

18.   Dallas Cowboys- Sylvester Williams, DT, North Carolina- The Cowboys were divided on whether to pick J.J. Watt or Tyron Smith 2 years ago, and Smith has been good, but they need a3-4 end like Watt to help alleviate the pass rush off of Demarcus Ware.  Williams is rising up draft boards and could go in the top half of the first round.

19.   Arizona Cardinals- Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M- The Cardinals need a new set of tackles.  While Matthews has been strictly a RT in college due to Joeckel, he has the pedigree (hall of fame father) and the skills to play the blind side at the next level.

20.   Seattle Seahawks- Sam Montgomery, DE, LSU- Montgomery’s stock is falling but he is still a Top 20 prospect, and Seattle could see Chris Clemmons getting older and fall in love with an Irvin/Montgomery tandem in the future.

21.   Miami Dolphins- Terrance Williams, WR, Baylor- The Dolphins need weapons if they want ryan Tannehill to truly blossom.  Williams is the next Baylor receiver to go high in the draft.

22.   Pittsburgh Steelers- Alec Ogletree, ILB, Georgia- The Steelers need inside linebacker help and  youth movement in general on D.  Ogletree is arguably the best linebacker in the SEC.

23.   Minnesota Vikings- Kawaan Short, DT, Purdue- The Vikings could use some help against the run, as Doug Martin showed.  Short is a big, impactful DT that fits great in a Cover 2 scheme like Minnesota’s.

24.   Green Bay Packers- Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame- Jermichael Finley forgot how to catch the football, Donald Driver is going to retire, and Greg Jennings is coming up on free agency and is injured.  Eifert is a WR/TE combo player who would be another matchup nightmare for this offense (see Randall Cobb).

25.   Denver Broncos- Marcus Lattimore, RB, South Carolina- John Fox likes to draft running backs in the first round and McGahee is getting old.  I’m not that high on Lattimore.

26.   New England Patriots- Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama- Warmack is a Top 10 prospect on a lot of boards, but so was David Decastro last year.  Guards just don’t go high in the draft.  I’m sure the Pats would love to insert Warmack at RG to replace Brian Waters.

27.   San Fransisco 49ers- Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas- Vaccaro can play either safety spot and has the aggression Jim Harbaugh loves.  Dashon Goldson is struggling and will be a free agent.

28.   New York Giants- Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina- The Giants could use some guard help and Cooper is a blue chipper.  In any draft without a Warmack or Decastro he’d be the top guard.

29.   Baltimore Ravens- C.J. Mosely, ILB, Alabama- Ray Lewis isn't unbreakable after all.  The Ravens need a new main man in the middle.

30.   Chicago Bears- Dallas Thomas, OT/G, Tennessee- Thomas can play tackle but is best suited as a guard.  Chicago doesn't have many holes right now but let’s not forget their line can get shaky fast.

31.   Houston Texans- Eric Reid, S, LSU- Reid is the leader of LSU’s vaunted secondary and one of the best playmakers in college football defensively.  The Texans have Glover Quinn hitting free agency and could use an upgrade anyway.

32.   Atlanta Falcons- Barrett Jones, C/OG/T, Alabama- The most versatile lineman to come out in my memory goes to the projected champs.  Atlanta needs interior line help, with Peter Konz moving from RG to C very soon.
